Automating across Applications

Imagine a Sales Order Entry Clerk receives an order in email, copies it to Microsoft Excel, formats it, copies it to SAP R/3, places a warehouse order in the Logistics application and then receives the bill from SAP, matches it to a picking order and faxes the report using a fax application. DataLoading, Verification and Extraction

Data Loading is the process in which a single business process is recorded, automated, and linked to a data source, typically a spreadsheet or database, but this could be a number of sources. The Dataload script then loops through the data source, loading the data into the application or applications, managing the process, recording all successful and unsuccessful transactions, highlighting where the failures were, and providing reports and logs of all uploaded transactions.

Data Extraction draws data out of a system, either for backup, deletion or comparison.

Data Verification confirms Data within a system, typically against an external database.

Often integration is required where Automation is too slow, or cannot be used on server based applications. Typically integration is a complex and expensive process with testing and project overhead.
